Birth Control and Family Planning
Our physicians offer oral, injectable, IUD, as well as permanent surgical sterilization.
Getting tested for STDs is a quick and easy process. Depending on what you are being tested for, you may be required to give a blood sample, a cheek swab, or urinate in a cup.
Cervical cancer screening is done via pap test and breast cancer screening is done via mammography.
Minimally Invasive and Major Gynecology Surgery
These include laparoscopic-assisted hysterectomies, tubal ligation, diagnostic laparoscopic procedures, and total abdominal hysterectomies.
Surgery for pelvic pain, endometriosis, bleeding problems, urinary incontinence and pelvic relaxation are common problems that we address. Many of these problems can be addressed with minimally invasive outpatient surgery.
We offer in-office procedures for the management of abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal pap smears and sterilization.
We administer hysterectomies requiring shorter recovery time, i.e. laparoscopic hysterectomy.
We offer management of menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, mood swings, vaginal dryness, hair loss, weight gain, decreased libido.
We offer management of stress and urge incontinence with medication or surgical intervention.
Infertility Diagnosis and Treatment
We administer Hysterosalpingogram procedures – x-rays to check for abnormalities of fallopian tubes and uterus.
Oral Fertility Medication
We offer therapy that is often used to stimulate ovulation in women that do not ovulate on their own.
We offer education and counseling regarding appropriate intervention if possible before conception.
Routine Prenatal Care
We administer routine pre-natal office visits for the entire length of pregnancy. Diabetes and Hypertension are managed during pregnancy and referred to a specialist as needed (i.e. Diabetic Specialist, Cardiologist).
We offer infertility evaluations and treatment, prenatal diagnosis with 3-D ultrasound and genetic counseling. We screen for and treat the risk factors associated with premature birth. The majority of patients with diabetes and/or hypertension in pregnancy can be cared for locally.
Labor and Delivery
The Birthing Center at Firelands Regional Medical Center offers a relaxing atmosphere for childbirth. Twenty-four-hour in-hospital anesthesia is one of the options available for pain management. This service also provides the utmost in safety for childbirth. Our physicians are the only providers of VBAC, vaginal birth after caesarean section, in the five-county area.
Certain permanent birth control methods may be performed in a doctor’s office.
On-site Lab Testing
- Pre-natal screening offered in office as needed
- 3D ultrasound is offered for prenatal and gynecological diagnoses 24-hour in hospital anesthesia in the form of epidurals during labor performed by nurse anesthetist on staff at the hospital
- VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean birth) is offered on a case by case basis
- Breastfeeding counseling is offered by trained personnel at the hospital
- Post-natal care and birth control options are routinely offered after vaginal or caesarean deliveries
