Ultrasound Technologist - PRN

 This is a clinical position responsible for performing Ultrasound and Vascular exams and related duties. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws.  Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Prepares patients for Ultrasound/Vascular procedures. Takes Ultrasound/Vascular images following established guidelines and procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order.
  • Logs Ultrasound/Vascular procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Maintains and cleans examination room. Stocks necessary medical and Ultrasound/Vascular supplies.
  • Processes Ultrasound/Vascular images
  • Prints exams to CD/film when required.
  • Completes necessary worksheet/history forms and sends to Radiologist or the reading physician.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to equipment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of sending and storing images
  • Skill in positioning patients properly.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Certification
  • Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) preferred

Environmental/Working Conditions:

  • Combination of office and exam offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations. Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test required.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Occasional stress from workload. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, writing instruments, PC, fax and medical equipment including stethoscope, Xray machine, eye washing equipment, blood pressure cuff.
