Office Supervisor - Full Time

Sandusky, OH

Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of the medical office personnel. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws.  Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Plans, directs and supervises the daily operation of the business support functions.
  • Assists Office Manager in developing, implementing and revising departmental policies and procedures. In cases where there is no Office Manager, the Office Supervisor will develop, implement and revise departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the current status of patient accounts and assists Central Billing Office in identifying and resolving billing and processing problems.
  • Works on special assigned projects, compiles data and prepares reports.
  • Communicates with internal and external staff. Answers the telephone, screens calls, and directs to proper source as needed.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Maintains confidentiality in regard to patient accounts status.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and management principles.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, spreadsheets and application
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding and office procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill in developing, implementing and administering budgets.
  • Ability to process patients and public billing inquiries.

Education and Work Experience:

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Typing ability and Word processing/computer skills.
  • Minimum of two years medical office experience in billing, accounting or information systems.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory or management experience.
