Nuclear Medical Tech - PRN - Imaging

This is a clinical position responsible for nuclear medicine and cardiac studies. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws.  Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Prepares patients for Nuclear Medicine procedures. Takes images following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Logs Nuclear Medicine procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Develops and processes images to film and CD burner. Proficient in sending studies to Radiologist and archival system.
  • Maintains and cleans exam rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Processes diagnostic imaging procedures and records radiopharmaceutical administration to patients.
  • Receives and records appropriate information regarding receipt of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals.
  • Requests and coordinates all necessary patient information including charting and charge slips.
  • Performs QA procedures on the equipment on a daily basis including daily/weekly surveys and wipe testing procedures as required.
  • Ensures compliance with the radioactive materials licensure requirements.
  • Maintain and cleans examination room and stocks medical supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PACS system and CD burner
  • Skill in positioning patients properly.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, Physicians, patients, and families.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Program.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) Certification
  • Current Ohio license or NMTCB
  • Current CPR certification
  • Required to maintain CE requirements
