X-Ray
X-ray is often the first step in screening. X-rays emit very little radiation, are painless and take very little time. It is used to detect a number of conditions including fractures; bone tumors; lung cancer; pneumonia; tuberculosis; heart failure; enlarged heart; COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease); infections and inflammation; blocked blood vessels; kidney stone; digestive tract problems; and, swallowed object detection.
CT Scan
NOMS Premium Imaging Services has Computed Tomography (CT) scanners that produce clear, sharp, high-quality images of any body part, such as the chest and lungs, abdomen, pelvis, bones, blood vessels, brain, and tissues to help diagnose abnormalities including tumors, bleeding, bone calcification, and cysts. Our CT produces high-quality cross-sectional images in a series of slices that are manipulated in a computer to produce high-resolution, 3D images. These scans are also called CAT scans. Computed tomography (CT) combines the use of X-rays with the latest computer technology to take detailed images of any body part. Using a series of X-ray beams, the CT scanner creates cross-sectional images. A computer then reconstructs the "slices" to produce the actual pictures. Considering that some slices are as thin as 1 millimeter, a CT scan offers much more image detail than a traditional X-ray, which means your doctor obtains detailed images to help make the most accurate diagnosis. Patients may need to fast or receive contrast dye before being scanned. For the imaging scan, patients are positioned on a table which glides into the scanner while pictures are taken. Patients need to remain motionless during imaging. CT scans are extremely fast and painless procedures.
MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one form of imaging modality used by physicians to look inside the human body to obtain clinically useful diagnostic information. Incorporating an advanced technology, MRI produces images of the anatomy without the use of radiation required with other imaging modalities such as x-ray and CT scanning. The benefits of magnetic resonance imaging are many, with new applications continually being developed through on-going research. The procedure is used for all parts of the body.
Ultrasound
Our highly trained staff and board-certified radiologists provide excellent service for a variety of general and advanced ultrasound needs. Ultrasound is a non-invasive technique that is used to generate real-time images of your body’s internal structures. Through a series of high-frequency sound waves, ultrasound technology allows for the visualization of blood vessels, internal organs, and fetal development.
Mammography
Mammography is still the number one screening tool for breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the few cancers that is curable if detected in its early stages. Getting an annual mammogram can be a lifesaving practice. At NOMS Imaging, we offer scheduled as well as same-day mammography. Each scan is interpreted by a highly qualified board certified radiologist. The SmartCurve™ System is designed to give better and more comfortable compression to women with dense breast tissue & is the highest quality 3D tomography.
Bone Scan
NaF-18 Bone scans are used to determine the health of skeletal structures. We use the new generation, state-of-the-art PET/CT technology with Sodium Fluoride to obtain fused PET and CT images of the bones. NaF-18 bone scan is a new technology that has been found to be highly sensitive and accurate in detecting abnormalities. Using PET technology and the 18F Sodium Fluoride radioisotope, we can now image the skeletal system (bones) in a much more sensitive and efficient manner than with traditional SPECT (single photon emitting computed tomography). Therefore, we can detect metastatic bone disease at much earlier stages and can help differentiate benign from malignant bone lesions. Sodium Fluoride bone scans are a valuable tool in critical treatment decisions and are commonly used to stage many types of cancers and to evaluate responses to medications, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. By identifying and attacking the spread of cancer to bones much earlier, we increase the chances of eliminating the disease.
Bone Density Test
Bone density tests tells you if you have normal bone density, low bone density (osteopenia) or osteoporosis. It is the only test that can diagnose osteoporosis. The lower your bone density, the greater your risk of breaking a bone. A bone density test can help you and your healthcare provider: learn if you have weak bones or osteoporosis before you break a bone predict your chance of breaking a bone in the future see if your bone density is improving, getting worse or staying the same find out how well an osteoporosis medicine is working let you know if you have osteoporosis after you break a bone
PET Scan
Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) is an innovative imaging procedure that combines the best of PET and CT imaging to create exceptionally detailed images. The highly sensitive PET scan detects the metabolic signal of actively growing cancer cells in the body and the CT scan provides a detailed picture of the internal anatomy that reveals the location, size, and shape of abnormal cancerous growths. Alone, each imaging test has particular benefits and limitations but when the results of PET and CT scans are "fused" together, the combined image provides complete information on cancer location and metabolism. PET/CT scan is especially useful for diagnosing and treatment planning for cancer and has also been shown to be useful for brain disorders and heart conditions. Patients may need to fast for a period of time before the scan. Patients are injected with a radioactive tracer about 60 minutes before the procedure. Then the patient is positioned on a table that glides into the PET scanner for about 35 minutes. The entire process may take up to two hours, depending on the particular procedure.
