Physical Therapist Assistant - PRN

Parma, OH

This is an as-needed position. NOMS Strength Physical Therapy is looking for an outpatient orthopedic PRN Physical Therapist Assistant. The position is for approximately 6-12 hours a week, possible morning and/or evening hours, M-F. The position will be paid hourly wages. Hour flexibility is preferred.  As a physical therapy assistant, you will work under the direction and supervision of physical therapists. PTA will help patients who are recovering from injuries and illnesses regain movement and manage pain. Candidates must be willing to travel to both offices in Parma and Highland Heights. Strength is looking for candidates with positive and outgoing demeanor's. Strength Physical Therapy emphasizes quality patient care and avoids overbearing workloads. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues; providing information and commentary; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physical therapy directives.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying therapy histories.
  • Assesses abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist's interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities; and in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Observe patients before, during, and after therapy, noting patient status and reporting it to a physical therapist.
  • Treat patients using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretching.
  • Educate a patient and family members about what to do after treatment.
  • Clean treatment areas and set up therapy equipment.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and comprehend patient information.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must have reliable transportation and show proof of auto insurance.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Must hold a valid license in the State of Ohio as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Environmental/Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an open area with other PT’s. Work may be stressful at times.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Coordination, balance, and strength to safely guard and protect a patient.
